Hi everyone. I’m off to the Romance Writers of American yearly national conference. For us writers, it’s a great time to come out of our caves and meet with other like-minded souls who write romance as well as with our editors and agents. It’s fun, wild, exhausting…I’m guessing I’ll be getting very little sleep for the next several days!
One of the best parts about conference is that we get to pick up tons of romance books for our own reading and (in my case, anyway!) to pass along to other readers who love romance. I do so love giving stuff away…especially books!
It’s been a busy but fun summer for those of us in the Haymore household: Alaska cruise, summer camp for the kids, baseball, sailing, lots of pool time. What is your favorite summer activity, and have you been enjoying these warm summer days?
I’ll choose one responder to have first dibs on 5 of the books I bring home from the conference. (I’ll send you the list of books I collected, and you pick 5!).
Have a GREAT week, everyone!

My favorite summer activity is the beach but…Im currently 6 months pregnant so…I don’t really want to wear a bathing suit in public. So jealous of all the people going to RWA! Have fun!

Going to the beach is fun, but around here, summer beach weather tends toward cold and foggy. Still a nice way to cool down though. 🙂
Have fun at RWA!!

Monica–I think you need a few books for those last few months of pregnancy! Congratulations!
Infinitieh–yes, the west coast does have so many foggy/cold summer days at the beach. We went sailing last week and we were freeeeeeezing, lol. Still fun, though!

Hi
Have fun at the conference. My favorite activity is golf. Some places in the country can play golf all year round but in Idaho it is a summer activity for me.
Thanks for the chance.

Its winter here in Australia…perfect reading weather! Summers are hot here in Queensland so the beach or the pool are the best places to be.
How was the cruise to Alaska…my husband and I would love to do that.

My favorite summer activity is camping. Have a beach camping trip next weekend, hoping to get a good read on Wednesday night to keep me out of trouble…..
Oh and I like going to Disneyland, nice to be a pass holder.

My favorite summer activity is cooking out with the hubby and hiking. And if it’s too hot, staying indoors to keep cool and curling up with a good book. We live on the east coast, but right now, we’re in California and getting ready to celebrate our 9-year anniversary…yay!
Hope you have a great time at the conference!

My favorite summer activity is camping with the family. I enjoy being cut off from the world for a little while to recharge. Have fun at the conference.

Actually, I enjoy spending my time in my dark, cool cave (aka my apartment). It’s been over 100 degrees all summer, so it drains my energy to be out and about. I’ve been inside working on my own manuscript…while I’ve been hibernating.

My favorite part of summer is going and hanging out with my best friend, because she has more time since there is no school. However, this summer it all changed, because we moved to another state. So, we cant hang out and go walking or the beach together. 🙁
Hopefully, I’ll be able to find another to fill her shoes while she’s in California.

My fave thing about summer is the bounty of sweet corn and/or watermelon. 🙂

We had a vacation to Florida and spent time at the ocean which I loved. I adore the water and am hoping to move closer to it very soon 🙂

We don’t have summer in the Caribbean but I love to spend time reading at the beach 🙂

We tend to like going tov the beach since we love five minutes away….but the 110temps have prevented that with my 22mo son. We go fishing in the evenings, and sit on our back porch with sweet tea and a good book!

How fun, Jennifer! We don’t tend to do the beach too often (the beach is just as likely to be overcast and foggy as it is to be sunny here…) but we love those unscheduled days where I can read and the kids can read or play or whatever! Hope you had an awesome time at RWA–it was fun to see everyone’s FB posts on it!

Pam–I have never tried golf–I need to find someone who knows how to play. It looks like such fun.
Karen–I LOVED Alaska. So beautiful. I would recommend it to everyone!
Jane–I enjoy the summer movies, too. I was so bummed my family went to see Batman while I was at RWA!
Happy anniversary, Wendy!
Jennifer–I love camping too–we haven’t gone camping in a while, though.

Audra, We have a pool, and my kids and I LOVE taking dips on hot days, too.
Aw, Melody, I’m sorry your friend moved away. Fingers crossed you’ll find another friend you can have fun with in the summer.
Kelly, I love sweet corn and watermelon, too! Such yummy summer foods.
Samantha Jane–I’m doing just that today–staying inside in the cool air conditioning!

Andrea, all this talk of camping makes me want to plan a last-minute camping trip!
Robin, ah, I’d LOVE to live closer to the ocean too. We’re only 50 miles away and we get out there sort of often, but it’d be SO nice to be close.
Sasha, I used to live in Hawaii and it was just like that…but it was *always* summer!
Jamie, that sounds fabulous! I can’t imagine it getting that hot at the beach–it never does here in California.
Fedora, thank you! RWA was absolutely fantastic!
